The small and mighty Rocky is ideal for inshore and nearshore surveys. Its compact size, maneuverability, and trailer transport capability make it quick to deploy. Rocky features three crew seats, one toilet, a bow thruster, and a moonpool, making it a hydrographic survey powerhouse.
The Rocky, also known as J7.50, is a small but powerful vessel designed specifically for survey operations. Built in the Netherlands in 2016, the vessel is constructed from lightweight aluminum and has a registered gross tonnage of 2.8 tons. With a length of 7.60 meters, breadth of 2.50 meters, and draft of 0.40 meters, the Rocky is compact and agile, able to reach a maximum speed of 30 knots and a cruising speed of 20 knots thanks to its Volvo Penta inboard engine.
In addition to its speedy propulsion system, the Rocky is also equipped with advanced communication and navigation technology, including a marifoon and VHF radio, AIS, and RTK dGPS, ensuring safe and reliable operation in any conditions. The vessel features a range of survey-specific equipment, including a Multibeam T20-P, Pos MV, and Wavemaster, as well as an AML SVP and SVS.
The Rocky’s general arrangement is designed with a focus on functionality and efficiency, with seating for three crew members, one toilet, and a bow thruster to aid in maneuvering. The vessel also features a moon pool, which provides a stable platform for survey equipment deployment.
