The History of Braveheart Marine

History

1993

Braveheart Marine has been operating for more than 15 years, providing survey, offshore support, and crew tender services. The company was founded in 1993 by Jelle Hakvoort, who started with inland shipping using his tugboat Evodia to navigate through the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.

2005

In 2005, Braveheart Marine secured its first project for the Port of Rotterdam, which involved surveying and controlling their dredging and sand suppletion works for the extension of the Europort harbor. This project marked the beginning of the company’s growth.

2008

In 2008, Braveheart Marine was awarded a marine service contract by PUMA, the main contractor for the Maasvlakte 2 project in Rotterdam. The four-year contract involved survey work and crew transfers to 12 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers (TSHD). This success led to an increase in the company’s fleet and scope of work.

2010

In 2010, Braveheart Marine established a joint venture with T&T Marine Salvage Inc. to create Braveheart Marine USA, Inc. This move expanded the company’s services further into offshore and salvage work surveys and sub-sea oil spill detection operations in the United States.

2012

In 2012, the company designed and constructed its first vessel, the Guardian, with Javelin International. The Guardian was a Javelin 22.22 vessel, which enabled Braveheart Marine to serve a new market: the construction and maintenance of wind farms.

2014

In 2014, Braveheart Marine collaborated with Amasus Shipping to establish a crew tendering service in Eemshaven, the Netherlands.

2015

In 2015, the company changed its name to Braveheart Marine BV and now has a fleet of ten vessels that serve clients all over the world.

2016

In 2016, the company constructed its smallest hydrographic survey vessel, the Rocky, equipped with multibeam and RTK dGPS.

2017

In 2017, the company expanded its fleet by acquiring the Patriot, a Javelin 25.25 type vessel.

2022

In 2022, Braveheart Marine acquired and refitted its offshore vessel, the Braveheart Spirit. This DP2 vessel is over 70 meters long, has a large aft deck, crew accommodation for 52 persons, and uses the latest survey technology.
