On behalf of Braveheart Marine the Freedom and Geo Explorer were operating on the Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm. Survey activities are executed for Jan de Nul Group.
The Project is located approximately 16.8 miles off Blakeney Point on the North Norfolk coast and 17.4 miles off the Lincolnshire coast at Chapel St Leonards of the United Kingdom. The offshore array will cover an area of approximately 29 square miles.
Project information
In December 2013, DONG Energy acquired the Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm from Centrica Plc.
Jan De Nul Group conducts installation (laying and burial) of the subsea export cables from landfall to two offshore platforms and the interlink between the offshore substations, in total 148km subsea cable.
Export cables for Race Bank will come to shore east of the mouth of the River Nene and approximately 3.7 miles north-northeast of Sutton Bridge. The cables will run in a southerly direction to the connection point at the existing Walpole substation. The approximate length of the onshore section of cable is 6.8 miles.
With a potential maximum capacity of up to 580MW, Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm could generate enough electricity to power 400,000 UK homes per year. The Project could also realise a potential annual carbon saving of over 830,000 tonnes of CO2.
